The Dukagjini publishing house has announced that “In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower,” the second volume of Marcel Proust's monumental work “In Search of Lost Time,” will soon be published in Albanian. The translation is by Bashkim Shehu.
In its presentation, the publisher describes Proust's cycle as seven novels that can be read as one, published between 1913 and 1927, and as a major turning point in the history of modern literature.
Marcel in adolescence
According to the publisher, the second volume continues the first with the same central character, Marcel, now an adolescent who begins to feel erotic impulses intensely. His obsessive daydreams of love for various girls his own age take center stage in the narrative.
Dukagjini notes that the pseudo-autobiographical perspective brings these experiences closer to the reader and that Proust, with his distinctive style, probes deep into the human soul, anticipating modern theories on the psychology of love.
The publisher has not yet announced the exact date the book will reach bookstores.
