Comment guidelines
Comments are for debate, not insults. We read and moderate them so the conversation stays open to everyone.

What's welcome
Opinions and criticism, even harsh, of ideas, institutions, parties and of us. Questions, corrections and extra information with a source.
What we remove
- Insults, threats and personal attacks
- Hate speech or discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other reason
- Defamation and false accusations against specific people
- Other people's personal data (addresses, phone numbers, private photos)
- Spam, ads and deceptive links
- Deliberate disinformation, especially about health and elections
- Impersonating someone else
- Illegal content or incitement to violence
How we moderate
Every comment is checked automatically when it's sent. Comments with links, offensive words or signs of spam are held for the newsroom to review before they appear. Sometimes a perfectly fine comment is held by mistake; we review it as soon as we can.
We may remove comments, close comments on an article or block people who repeatedly break the rules. Comments marked “Newsroom” come from our journalists.
Reporting
If a comment breaks the rules, use the “Report” button. For urgent cases (threats, personal data) write to [Newsroom email].
Responsibility
Comments reflect the views of their authors, not ANN's. You're legally responsible for what you write.
Comments and privacy
What we store when you comment is explained in our privacy policy.
