1,500 winners in Tirana
Also on Monday, Tirana Municipality announced about 1,500 new winners of its social program “For subsidizing loan interest,” which helps low-income families buy an apartment in the capital. The subsidized share of the interest is paid from the state budget, while the loan is repaid at 3% interest.
The list of winners was sent for approval at the October meeting of the Municipal Council. Once it is approved, beneficiaries must go to commercial banks that have agreements with the municipality to complete the procedures. The loan amount for each applicant depends on the number of family members and the program's criteria; the program was among the first initiatives of Mayor Erion Veliaj.
