Albania national team coach Rolando Maran continued his tour of the Abissnet Superiore league this week, watching three matchday 9 games from the stands. Accompanied by his assistants, Christian Maraner and Ervin Bulku, the Italian coach attended Wednesday's opening match, Vora–Vllaznia, while on Thursday he watched the Tirana–Dinamo derby at Niko Dovana Stadium in Durrës and the Egnatia–Teuta match at Egnatia Arena in Rrogozhina.
A close watch on the league
As he said when he signed his contract with the FSHF in May, Maran continues to follow league matches in person and the performances of players who are or could become national team candidates. According to ATSH, he has also previously visited several Superiore teams during training to see how the clubs work and has had the chance to talk directly with their coaches.
The games Maran watched were among the most heated of the week. The Durrës derby ended 1-1 with four players sent off, while Vora beat Vllaznia on Wednesday. Maran wrapped up the week's tour with the Rrogozhina match, played on Thursday afternoon.
The last two Nations League matches
The scouting comes shortly before the November camp, when the national team plays its last two Group C1 matches in the Nations League. Albania host Finland on Nov. 12 at Air Albania Stadium at 8:45 p.m., while on Nov. 15 they face Belarus away at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadium at 6 p.m. The goal, according to the federation, is to defend first place in the group through the end of the competition.
