The Tepelena Historical Museum is having a busy autumn. According to KultPlus, the institution has received a high number of visitors this month, many of them foreign tourists, who have expressed particular appreciation for the museum's age and the objects on display. The town in the south of the country, on the Vjosa River, is also known for its historic castle.
“From mid-September to mid-October we have had the largest number of visitors,” said museum head Klejda Gaba, comparing this period with the rest of the season and with last year. No exact figures were given.
Request for new objects
Gaba said the museum has asked the Regional Directorate of Culture for new objects to display, possibly linked to recent excavations. She acknowledged that the procedures take time and that no new object has been added so far.
The objects and materials on display let visitors get a close look at Tepelena's past. “The Historical Museum remains an important space for preserving and promoting Tepelena's heritage,” Gaba stressed.
More tour groups
To further increase visitor numbers, the museum plans to cooperate with travel agencies so that it is included in the itineraries of groups visiting Tepelena. Adding new objects is seen as another way to make the museum more attractive to local and foreign audiences.
