Artist Zake Prelvukaj has brought the exhibition FUTURAMA, an artistic reflection on time, memory and the future, to the gallery of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts (ASHAK) in Pristina, KultPlus reported. The exhibition brings together 26 works from her recent output, 14 paintings and 12 drawings, accompanied by quotations.
Prelvukaj is one of the best-known names in Kosovo's visual arts, with a long artistic and academic career. She studied at the Academy and later at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pristina, where she returned after her studies to teach younger generations of artists.
The present through the past and the future
The exhibition's central concept is living the present through the lessons of the past and the future. The artist and curator Arta Agani present it as a critical look at our times, including artificial intelligence and the relationship between people and technology. The accompanying text was written by Eqrem Basha, who at the opening spoke about the artist's experimental approach and her critical stance on social norms, especially gender norms.
Ismet Jonuzi, head of the Academy's Arts Section, also spoke at the ceremony, as did Prelvukaj herself, who thanked her family and ASHAK. The artist asked those present for a minute of silence for Arlinda Zekaj, the 49-year-old woman killed on Oct. 25 in Vitomirica near Peja, a case that has shaken public opinion in Kosovo and in which police are searching for her brother-in-law as a suspect.
