In brief
- The government changed business registration procedures at the National Business Center.
- Every business must have a certificate from the National Economic Chamber for the NVE code of its activity.
- Simple electronic extracts from the QKB will be free of charge and unlimited.
The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved changes to the procedures for registering businesses and publishing data at the National Business Center (QKB), according to an announcement reported by ATSH.
The activity certificate
The main novelty is the requirement for every entity to obtain a certificate for its NVE code, which classifies the business's economic activity. The certificate is issued by the National Economic Chamber, and the code will be verified periodically every year.
New businesses must upload the certificate to e-Albania within 30 calendar days of initial registration. Existing entities have one calendar year, starting from when the provisions take effect and the technical and inter-institutional interoperability conditions are met.
Financial statements and extracts
Annual financial statements will also be submitted only electronically via e-Albania. The data will pass automatically from the QKB system to the General Directorate of Taxes, while applications with gaps or inaccuracies will be rejected after a formal check.
The QKB will issue simple electronic extracts free of charge, which anyone with an interest can request without limit through its official website or e-Albania. The decision also sets out procedures for exchanging data with the European business registers system BRIS, but these will apply only after Albania joins the EU.
The decision takes effect after publication in the Official Gazette, while the provisions on financial statements, NVE certification, declaration of location and extracts from the commercial register apply from Jan. 1, 2027.
According to the government, the changes aim for a more accurate and up-to-date commercial register, in which a business's declared activity matches what it actually does.
