Albania's General Directorate of Archives (DPA) and the History Department of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Pristina (UP) have signed a cooperation agreement to promote scientific research in Albanological studies through free access to archival holdings and joint publications, ATSH (the Albanian Telegraphic Agency) reports.
Free digital documents
Under the agreement, professors and students of the History Department will have free access to archival documents. They will also be supported with documents in digital format free of charge, up to 20,000 images a year, an important benefit for researchers working with sources on Albanian history. The stated aim of the agreement is to promote scientific research in Albanology through access to archival holdings and joint publications by the two institutions.
The document was signed in Pristina by the director general of the Archives, Auron Rrokaj, and the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Prof. Bekim Baliqi. Both committed to publishing quality editions and to mutually enriching the institutions' libraries.
Internships in Tirana for students
As part of the cooperation, bachelor's, master's and doctoral students will be able to complete professional internships at the General Directorate of Archives in Tirana. The two sides will also cooperate on organizing seminars, training sessions, courses and joint projects.
The agreement adds a new link to institutional cooperation between Albania and Kosovo in the field of documentary heritage, opening the holdings of the Albanian archives to young researchers in Pristina.
