- Investigations found the fire was set deliberately.
- R.K., 33, is suspected of ordering it and T.K., 36, of carrying it out.
Vlora police have solved the burning of a vehicle in the city that had initially been treated as accidental. The incident happened on Sept. 22, 2026, at around 1:20 a.m., in the “1 Maji” neighborhood.
At the time, the fire was reported as the result of a technical fault in the car's engine. Later investigations concluded that the vehicle had been set on fire deliberately.
Operation ‘Order’
The car belonged to a 50-year-old woman with the initials S.N., a Vlora resident. As part of an operation code-named “Order,” police arrested two men from Vlora: R.K., 33, suspected of ordering the arson, and T.K., 36, suspected of carrying it out.
Police have not disclosed a motive. The case files were sent to the Prosecutor's Office at the Vlora First Instance Court for the offense of “destruction of property by fire,” committed jointly. Police have not said whether there is any link between the suspects and the car's owner, or how they were identified, a month after the fire.
Investigation continues
According to police, the investigation continues to fully document the case. Vlora has recently been the scene of several serious criminal acts, including the explosive blast that damaged the car of the Shushica administrator earlier this week, a case in which several people were taken in for questioning. Also on Friday morning, police in Burrel announced the arrest of three people suspected of selling cocaine, seizing the drugs, a Rolex watch and a car.
