In brief
- All Albanian parties of the Presevo Valley took part in the joint rally in Samolica, Bujanovac.
- The Albanian Coalition runs as list No. 17 in Serbia's snap parliamentary election on Oct. 25.
- The agreement on the joint list was signed on Sept. 29 at the Office of Kosovo's Prime Minister.
Representatives of the Albanian political parties of the Presevo Valley gathered in Samolica for a joint rally of the Albanian Coalition, a few days before Serbia's snap parliamentary election. According to lawmaker Shaip Kamberi, all Albanian parties of the valley took part in the rally.
Kamberi presented the coalition as a project for equality, dignity and representation of Albanians in Serbia. “This alliance is our political response to Vučić's party-state,” he wrote in a post after the rally.
He added that unity also brings responsibility: cooperation, keeping promises and holding the authorities accountable for unimplemented agreements. Kamberi reminded voters that the Albanian Coalition is running as number 17.
How the coalition was formed
The coalition was formed on Sept. 29 at the Office of Kosovo's Prime Minister, where parties from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja signed the agreement to run on a joint list. The meeting was hosted by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in the presence of party leaders Shaip Kamberi (PVD), Visar Memeti (APN), Nagip Arifi (PD), Agim Sabedini (PDSH), Shqiprim Muslifi (LPD), Sami Salihu (LR), Armend Alia (AL) and Naser Azizi (UDSH).
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić signed decrees on Sept. 9 dissolving Parliament and calling the snap election. Voting takes place on Sunday, Oct. 25.
