In brief
- Maddison scored in the 14th minute; Rudoni equalized for Coventry in the 49th.
- Marmoush scored his first goal for Spurs (58'), and Davies sealed the win in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
- Tottenham climb to 16th place with 6 points, level with Coventry.
Tottenham finally broke their early-season curse, beating Coventry City 3-1 on Monday evening at their stadium in London. It was Roberto De Zerbi's side's first Premier League win after six winless matches that had left them at the bottom of the table.
James Maddison opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a curling shot into the corner, in his first start in a competitive match since May 2025. Shortly afterward Dominic Solanke found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Marmoush and Davies decide it
Coventry, managed by Frank Lampard, equalized right after the break through Jack Rudoni in the 49th minute. Omar Marmoush put Tottenham back in front in the 58th minute with his first goal for the club; Lampard said afterward that he expected VAR to rule it out for an elbow on Milan van Ewijk, but the goal stood.
Dejan Kulusevski came on in the 86th minute after 526 days out with a knee injury. In the sixth minute of stoppage time (90+6), substitute Ben Davies scored with the outside of his foot to make the final score 3-1.
With this win Spurs reach 6 points, the same as Coventry, and climb to 16th place on goal difference. Tottenham's next match is the London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
