In brief

  • Apolonia and Egnatia lead with 9 points, followed by Vllaznia and Teuta on 6 each.
  • Round three brought Apolonia's 14-1 win over Lushnja and Teuta's 4-0 over Partizani.
  • Round four opens on Saturday with the Egnatia vs. Apolonia top-of-the-table clash at 12:00.

Apolonia and Egnatia have taken the lead in the women's Kategoria Superiore after the first three rounds, both on 9 points with three wins from three games, the Albanian Football Federation said. Behind them are Vllaznia and Teuta with 6 points each, while Partizani and Atletik Klub have 3 apiece.

Round three: 14 goals for Apolonia

The most lopsided result of round three was Apolonia's 14-1 win over Lushnja, who are still without a point. Teuta beat Partizani 4-0, Vllaznia won 3-0 against Kinostudio, and Egnatia closed the round with a 3-0 away win at Atletik Klub.

The women's championship features eight teams this season: Apolonia, Egnatia, Vllaznia, Teuta, Partizani, Atletik Klub, Kinostudio and Lushnja. The early results show a clear gap between the leading group and the sides still searching for their rhythm. Vllaznia and Teuta, with two wins each, trail the top two by three points, while Kinostudio and Lushnja sit at the bottom of the table.

Top-of-the-table clash on Saturday

Round four opens on Saturday, Oct. 24, with the most important match of the early season: Egnatia vs. Apolonia at 12:00, where only one of the two can keep a perfect record. Partizani vs. Atletik Klub kicks off at the same time, while Kinostudio host Teuta at 15:00.

The round closes on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 12:00 with Lushnja vs. Vllaznia, where the Shkodra side will look to stay close to the top of the standings after two wins in their first three games.
