In brief
- Ilija Srdanović: continuing the dialogue on Kosovo is a fundamental part of the Student List's plan.
- Protocols agreed by Serbian officials may be reviewed for compliance with Serbia's Constitution.
- On Radoičić's extradition and talks with Kurti, decisions will be made once a government is formed.
The Student List, which ended the 14-year rule of Aleksandar Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party in the Oct. 25 election, remains open to dialogue with Kosovo but does not rule out reviewing the agreements reached so far. That was the message from the movement's representative, Ilija Srdanović, in an interview with Radio Free Europe, reported by KALLXO.com.
Serbia's Constitution as the limit
“Continuing the dialogue on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija is a fundamental part of the student plan,” Srdanović said, adding that Serbia's entire platform of domestic and international relations rests on respect for the Serbian Constitution. Asked about the Brussels Agreement, he left the door open to changes: “All the protocols our officials have agreed on behalf of Serbia may be reviewed to determine whether they comply with the Constitution.”
On a possible meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Srdanović said the decision would be made after a government is formed. “At this moment, we have not yet received the mandate and we are not in power in Serbia,” he said.
No position on Radoičić
He also declined to give even a personal position on Pristina's request to extradite Milan Radoičić, the former deputy leader of Srpska Lista, who has claimed responsibility for organizing the armed group that attacked in Banjska, Zvečan, on Sept. 24, 2023, killing police Sgt. Afrim Bunjaku. He said decisions on such matters would be made later, under Serbia's legal procedures.
Kurti has made trust in the EU-mediated dialogue conditional on Radoičić's handover, the signing of the basic agreement and the withdrawal of a letter by former Prime Minister Ana Brnabić. In Skopje, Kosovo Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu said the same day that she does not expect major changes in Belgrade's approach.
