Police in Roskovec have arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of firing a gun outside the home where his former partner lives, in the village of Luar.
According to the police, after a report of shots in the village, officers from the Roskovec Police Station, together with the Fier precinct, immediately began working to establish the circumstances and identify the shooter. Police detained a man with the initials B. M., 37, a resident of Roskovec, identified by the media as Besmir (Erjon) Mustaj.
Petty motives
The investigation found that the 37-year-old had fired a gun outside his former partner’s home “over petty motives,” according to the official statement. Police reported no injuries from the incident. He is also suspected of domestic violence and of acting in violation of a court order.
Three criminal offenses
The case files were sent to prosecutors for the offenses of “illegal possession and manufacture of weapons, explosives and ammunition,” “domestic violence” and “acts in violation of a court decision.”
The arrest comes as domestic violence is again in the spotlight in the region: in Peja, Kosovo, according to Top Channel, a woman was killed by her brother-in-law about two hours after reporting violence to the police, a case that has prompted calls to investigate the institutions. Kosovo’s chief state prosecutor has ordered an analysis of how institutions handled the victim’s requests, while the Kosovo Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution against violence against women and domestic violence.
