The organizer of the “Not in my name!” initiative, Çlirim Haziri, on Monday called on Kosovo's president, Justina Shiroka-Pula, to review the Law on the Specialist Chambers carefully and with full responsibility.
At a press conference, Haziri said that if provisions that conflict with the Constitution are found in the law, the president should send it back to Parliament for reconsideration.
“The KLA needs a law that is constitutional and in line with European standards,” he declared, adding that the citizens of Kosovo believe in the innocence of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The working group on the appeal
Haziri, the son of fallen fighter Xhavit Haziri, also welcomed the creation of the working group on the appeal in The Hague. Last week, the Kosovo government formed a working group, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca, to coordinate the state's strategy in the appeal proceedings for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
As of publication, there had been no response from the Presidency to the initiative's call.
