The suspect, identified by the initials A.M., was caught by officers near the spot where the fire had started and taken to the Divjaka Police Station for further procedural steps. Police have not disclosed a motive or whether the suspect has admitted the act.
According to police, the flames engulfed an area of land covered with wild vegetation and shrubs and were spreading, threatening to burn the national park's forest. The size of the burned area has not been made public.

The Divjaka-Karavasta National Park, on the coast of the Fier region, is one of the country's most important protected areas, known for its pine forest and the Karavasta lagoon, where the Dalmatian pelican nests. The lagoon is protected as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. Setting fires near protected areas is prosecuted, and police have repeatedly warned residents not to burn plant waste near forests.
